Your emotional life matters to God. He cares about the current status of your heart, even if it’s not pretty. You don’t have to be a faker. God is not a subscriber to good vibes only. But hiding our emotions from him is very bad for us. That was the position of Adam and Eve after the Fall. We need to embrace that God has given us his permission to be an emotional wreck before him. Surprisingly, that’s what brings us closer to him when we feel that way. And every Christian feels that way sometimes, perhaps even often. Even Jesus was a man of sorrows well acquainted with grief.
So, to that end, I.AM is a music project for those who don’t always feel happy in the presence of God, but believe God still wants to be near them even in those moments. I.AM is the artist name for multi-instrumentalist/singer-songwriter Alex McKee. 150.1 is his first collection of adapted, emotionally honest Psalms set to a lo-fi, electronic soundscape.
